Racine Recycles Starting April 26!

The Department of Public Works is again sending updated 2011 magnet calendars and maps to every City of Racine resident. Keep the magnet on your refrigerator to remind you when to take your recycling cart out to the curb for recycling pick-up.

Beginning Monday, January 3, 2011 and continuing through Friday,
January 14, 2011, the Department of Public Work’s crews will be
collecting Christmas trees at the curb from city residents. Trees must
be decoration-free and placed at the curbline of city streets for collection
the same day as solid waste collection. Anyone with solid waste
collection from the alleyline, must place trees at the curbline in front of
the residence. Wreaths and other decorative greenery should be disposed
of with regular solid waste.

Place these holiday items IN your cart
• Gift boxes
• Paper bags
• Wrapping paper (not foil type)
• Cardboard tubes from wrapping paper
• Paper gift tags and greeting cards
• Envelopes

Keep these items OUT of the cart
• Foil type wrapping paper
• Tissue paper
• Ribbon
• Photo greeting cards

Effective January 1, 2011, used oil filters are banned from landfill disposal in Wisconsin.
Keep them out of both solid waste collection and the recyclable cart.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change stores accept used oil filters along with waste oil and
antifreeze. Up to 6 used oil filters per person per day are allowed at no charge.

Do recycle oil filters by taking them to any of these
